What are we seeking?
We are seeking an original project specifically adapted to book format. The dummy should be virtually ready for publication in terms of design, editing and other technical aspects.
Who can participate?
This call is open to authors of all ages and nationalities; there is a 20-euro submission fee per proposal.
How many projects can you submit?
As many as you wish; however, each proposal must be submitted independently.
Do you have to send a hard-copy dummy?
In order to participate, it is not necessary to submit a hard-copy dummy. Only a pdf and a link to a video that showcases the dummy as best as possible. If your project is shortlisted among the 10 finalists, you will be required to send a hard-copy dummy within a maximum of 3 weeks for the jury to make the final decision. These will not be returned and will be incorporated into the Fiebre Photobook Festival collection.
What will the distribution process be like?
Dalpine will be in charge of national and international distribution and Fiebre will roll out a communication campaign in order to give it the widest possible dissemination, with presence in different festivals, bookshops, libraries, media and events.
Who will own the publishing rights?
Fiebre Photobook Festival and Dalpine shall own the publishing rights for the first edition, which shall then be signed over to the author for future editions. The copyright of all images included in the book shall belong to the author, who shall authorise their use for the purpose of publishing the book and for all necessary communication and dissemination purposes.
What happens if the award is declared void?
In the event that the international jury decides to declare the award void, the organisation will reimburse all submission fees.
Why is the submission of hard-copy dummies only requested to the finalists?
Mainly because the final decision cannot be made based on a PDF and a video; in our experience, having a hard-copy dummy provides a large amount of information that is essential to determine the winner of the award. We are also aware that shipping costs are high, especially in the case of an international prize such as the Fiebre Dummy Award. We hold an exhibition that showcases all 10 shortlisted dummies and is highly regarded by our audience, as well as by publishers attending the festival, and we know from previous years that these exhibitions have resulted in other publishing offers besides the winning project.
